KABUL, Afghanistan – An Afghan and coalition security force killed five extremists and wounded one other during an operation in search of a senior Taliban leader in Muhammad Aghah district, Logar province, June 15.

The leader is responsible for planning, enabling and executing attacks against Afghan and coalition forces throughout the Muhammad Aghah and Kabul districts. He also facilitates the movement of improvised explosive device materials, weapons and military equipment, and supplies extremists with suicide improvised explosive devices to be used in attacks in the local area.

An Afghan and coalition security force killed four extremists and wounded one other during an operation in search of a senior Haqqani leader in Sayyid Karam district, Paktiya province, June 15. The leader has command and control over extremist cells that carry out attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. He facilitates the movement of fighters within Paktiya and Khost provinces and interfaces directly with senior leadership.

An Afghan and coalition security force killed two extremists during an operation in search of a Haqqani leader in Muhammad Aghah district, Logar province, June 15. The leader oversees ambushes and complex attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. He is responsible for improvised explosive device component procurement, construction, training and emplacement within Logar and plans suicide IED attacks against Afghan government officials. He is also a logistics chief and facilitates the distribution of mines, IEDs, and weapons to various extremist cells.

Afghan Local Police and Afghan Uniformed Police found and neutralized an improvised explosive device in Baraki Barak district, Logar province, June 15. The National Directorate of Security received a tip about a possible IED and passed the information to the district chief of police. The district chief of police assembled a patrol of ALP and AUP who found and neutralized the IED after ensuring the safety of nearby civilians.
