Navy father sends love from Afghanistan on Father’s Day

TARIN KOT, AFGHANISTAN – Lt. Cmdr. Christopher Oxner, general surgeon for the Role Two Hospital, is currently serving with Combined Team Uruzgan at Multinational Base - Tarin Kot, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Oxner, a native of Arlington, Texas, and a graduate of Arlington High School, Texas Agricultural and Mechanical (A&M) University in College Station, Texas, and The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, Texas, arrived in theater in May 2013. Oxner has served in the military for nine years. This is his first deployment.

Many soldiers have been away from their families for important holidays, and with Father’s Day approaching, Oxner had a few words for his sons, Bryson and Damon.

"Hello boys; daddy misses and loves you,” Oxner said. “I will be home before you know it and cannot wait to give you big hugs and kisses. Give mommy a kiss for me; love, Dada."

Oxner is scheduled to return to Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Va., later this year.
