McConnell Reservists return from Southwest Asia deployment

MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. - Several members of the Air Force Reserve 931st Air Refueling Group returned home today from a deployment to Southwest Asia.

The returning airmen arrived on three separate flights throughout the day, and were greeted on the flightline by a crowd of friends, family members, and fellow airmen.

"It is with great pride that we are able to welcome these members back home to McConnell," said Col. Mark S. Larson, commander of the 931st Air Refueling Group. "The successful deployment and return of these citizen airmen is a testament to the critical contribution the Air Force Reserve continuously makes in support of the operations of our nation. We are grateful for the sacrifice these airmen and their families have made during this deployment, and we now celebrate their safe return home."

The deployed Reservists had spent the previous two months conducting air refueling missions in locations throughout Southwest Asia in support of ongoing U.S. overseas operations.

In fiscal year 2013 to date, citizen airmen of the 931st Air Refueling Group have spent more than 8,000 days deployed to locations around the globe.
