PHOENIX - Lt. Col. Jack Beasley was the first in his class to earn his Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate today at the Allen Readiness Center.
The four-day extensive class features information on how to improve the quality of process outputs by identifying and removing and minimizing variability in manufacturing and business processes.
“What we do here in our own organization is full of processes, and what this class here is for is improving processes,” Beasley said, who is deputy commander and administrative officer for Headquarters 158th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade. “It helps as a battalion administrative officer with making my job more efficient and accurate, giving me the tools I need to improve systems and making our management work for us.”
The training uses a set of quality management methods, including statistical methods, and creates special levels of people within the organization (i.e. "Champions," "Black Belts," "Green Belts," "Orange Belts," etc.)
While the training itself is intense and with plenty of information to help administrative professionals succeed, Beasley encourages anyone with aspirations of continuing a career in the administrative field to take on this beneficial training.
“Everybody has some sort of administrative process in their office, from the unit admin on up, so officers and enlisted would definitely get something out of this course,” he said.
