108th Air Defense Artillery changes responsibility

Fort Bragg, N.C. – Hundreds of soldiers from 108th Air Defense Artillery Brigade observed a change of responsibility ceremony held here May 3, 2013.

Command Sgt. Maj. Harold L. Lincoln, command sergeant major of the 108th Air Defense Artillery Brigade relinquished responsibility to Sgt. Maj. Micheal L. Leach.

Lincoln has had a long history in the Spartan brigade. He served as a command sergeant major of the 3rd Battalion, 4th ADA Regiment, 108th ADA Brigade in 2007. Lincoln assumed the brigade command sergeant major position, Jan. 10, 2010. He also deployed to Southwest Asia in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with the unit.

During his speech, Lincoln spoke to the soldiers of the Spartan brigade about the two things that helped sustained him, resiliency and family. As well as the importance of having quality leaders to guide Soldiers.

“All soldiers ask for is quality leadership,” said Lincoln. “Leadership that genuinely cares about them with dignity and respect, and enforces high standards and leadership they can trust enough to go to when they have a problem. I am confident that my successor, Sgt. Maj. Leach is one of those leaders.”

Sgt. Maj. Leach spoke on the many feats that Command Sgt. Maj. Lincoln had accomplished while in the brigade and offered these words to the soldiers standing before him.

“Know that I will continue to provide the brigade with the best leadership from this office,” said Leach. “I am here for you and ready to serve you.”

As the command sergeant major of the brigade, Leach will be responsible for operations of the Air Defense Artillery Brigade capable of deploying worldwide, on short notice, to provide air defense force protection.
