KAPISA PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Afghan Local Police, Afghan Uniformed Police and U.S. special forces killed an enemy insurgent during an attack in Tagab district, Kapisa province, April 30.
Insurgents attacked the Afghan National Security Forces and USSF during a joint patrol in Tagab district with PKMs and rocket-propelled grenades. The combined forces returned fire, killing one enemy insurgent and wounding another. Unable to continue their attack, the insurgents retreated from the area.
“The way our national and local police forces responded to this Taliban attack proves they are effective and dedicated to the service and protection of our people,” said Kapisa Provincial Governor Mehrabuddin Safi. “Our security forces are constantly demonstrating their ability to work together to maintain village security. The ALP especially have a personal interest in the stability of this area because it is their home and their land.”
Afghan Local Police assist and support Afghan National Security Forces to enable conditions for improved security, governance and development in Afghanistan’s rural areas.
During the engagement, several members of the joint patrol sustained injuries from small arms fire. They are receiving medical treatment and will soon return to duty. No civilian casualties or structural damage were reported during this engagement.
