No Fatalities from Marine Helicopter Mishap in Jordan

AL QATRANAH, Jordan – An AH-1W Super Cobra helicopter from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit crashed in Jordan during a scheduled bilateral training exercise with Jordanian armed forces.

The two pilots in the aircraft were treated for injuries at the scene and transported to medical facilities in Amman, Jordan, for further treatment and evaluation. Both pilots are in stable condition, one is expected to be released and returned to full duty, and the other requires additional medical treatment and will be medically evacuated to a U.S. medical facility.

The aircraft, from Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron – 264 (Reinforced), was participating in exercise Infinite Moonlight, an annual exercise between U.S. and Jordanian forces.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
