Tomahawks soldiers receive valorous award for actions in Afghanistan

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. - Spc. Alain F. Mvogo, 21, of Colorado Springs, Colo., was presented the Army Commendation with Valor at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., March 25. The presentation at JBLM was to recognize his actions as a medic, July 25, 2012, during a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

His actions as a combat medic included many instances during his nine-month deployment where his quick thinking and actions, while conducting treatment and casualty evacuation on multiple wounded soldiers, resulted in saving the lives of his comrades.

Mvogo is currently serving as a medic with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division. Lt. Col. Corey Crosbie, 1-23 Infantry Commander, presented the award before an audience that included his leadership and comrades-in-arms.
