WARRIOR BASE, South Korea - Pfc. Odessa Noel, supply specialist with Eighth Army Headquarters Support Company, dreams of seeing the world.

She was born in Guyana, moved to New York as a young woman, and now the Army has brought her to South Korea. She still longs to visit one place in particular, Germany.

“I don’t know what it is about that country, but I’ve just always had a desire to go there,” Noel said. “There and Paris … oh my!”

Noel is hoping that she will get lucky and the Army will relocate her in Germany for her next duty station, but knows the chances may be slim. For now, she is enjoying her time in Korea.

“It’s far away from my family but it’s not so bad,” Noel said. “It’s actually pretty nice.”

Noel is currently taking college courses and really enjoys dancing and reading. For now, the only things she has time to read are psychology school books, she said. Luckily for Noel, she has a good team of Eighth Army soldiers that support her.

“I like my unit, especially my first sergeant. He’s the best,” Noel said. “He’s given me time off for school because he knows how important it is, which I appreciate.”
