WARRIOR BASE, South Korea - Pfc. Jeffery Barry is high-speed in more than one way. As a highly-trained American soldier, Barry knows how to do his job and do it well. As an avid muscle car enthusiast, Barry has a need for speed.

“I like to go fast and I love working on hot rods,” Barry said. “I have a couple friends that help me work on cars, but really, I like to do most of the work on my own.”

Barry, a field artillery tactical navigation systems specialist stationed at Camp Hovey, is currently on a special assignment as a driver for the Mission Command Training Program, where he shuttles passengers to various destinations across South Korea.

Barry longs for the day when he will reunite with his sporty 1991 Ford Mustang.

There is some minor crossover between his current job as a driver and his passion for cars, but there is definitely no speeding while working for the MCTP.

The 21-year-old Barry is 13 months into his military career, the last six of which he has spent at Camp Hovey. As a native of Leonard, Texas, Barry is excited to return to his home-state and his future duty station, Fort Hood, after his tour in Korea concludes in September.
