Afghan brigade in the lead for security in Paktika

FORWARD OPERATING BASE SHARANA, Afghanistan – Key leaders from the 2/203rd Brigade, Afghan National Army, the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan., and Task Force “Commandos,” 2/10 Security Forces Assistance Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, Forward Operating Base, Sharana, attended a Transfer of Authority ceremony held at Forward Operating Base Thunder, Feb. 13.

The commander of 4/Ist BCT, 1st Inf. Div., Col. Joseph D. Wawro and Command Sgt. Maj. Wylie G. Hutchison cased the unit’s colors, symbolizing the transfer of security responsibility with the 2/203rd, ANA Brigade. The 2/203rd ANA is now in the lead for security in Paktika Province.

The commander of TF “Commandos,” 2/10 SFAB, 10th Mtn. Div., Col. Dennis S. Sullivan, and Command Sgt. Maj. Hector J. Font uncased the brigade’s colors, marking the start of their mission to advise and assist their Afghan partners in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
