Corps in cooperation with the city of Springfield

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Army Corps of Engineers' Little Rock District is seeking public comments through March 3 on a proposed plan and environmental assessment related to a flood risk reduction project on Jordan Creek in Springfield, Mo.

The documents include an integrated draft feasibility report and environmental assessment with a draft finding of no significant impact. The draft documents indicate the proposed work would cause no significant adverse effects to the human environment, and an environmental impact statement would not be required.

The Corps, in cooperation with the city of Springfield, evaluated several alternatives that would reduce flood risk along Jordan Creek. The tentatively selected plan consists of detention ponds in the upper reaches of the watershed and channel modification in the lower end.

Report copies are available for review at all Springfield public libraries as well as the Little Rock District Office in Room 7403 of the Federal Building at 700 W Capitol Ave. in Little Rock. The documents can also be reviewed on the Internet at: http://www.swl.usace.army.mil/Missions/Planning/CurrentStudiesandProjects.aspx

Written comments should be mailed to the Planning & Environmental Division, Little Rock Engineer District, P.O. Box 867, Little Rock, Ark., 72203-0867 or by email to Laura.L.Cameron@usace.army.mil.

Comments must be post marked by March 3 to become part of the official record. For more information, call Laura Cameron at 501-324-5037.
