BAGRAM, Afghanistan - An insurgent vehicle-borne improvised explosive device attack killed five civilians and injured nine others in Tagab district, Kapisa province Jan. 25.

The attack, which targeted a coalition convoy in the area, did not injure any International Security Assistance Force personnel traveling in the vehicles.

Provincial Governor Mehrabuddin Safi said the insurgents continue to display their disrespect for the people of Afghanistan and the Islam religion.

"The VBIED attack was brutal and left scores of civilian fatalities,"
said Kapisa Provincial Governor spokesperson, Qais Qaderi. "The governor's office deeply condemns this inhuman attack by insurgents; even the Islam religion condemns such an attack."
