KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany – The 21st Theater Sustainment Command’s 18th Military Police Brigade held a change of command and responsibility ceremony on Rhine Ordnance Barracks, Jan. 17, to welcome a new command team and farewell the outgoing team.
Col. D. David Deadrich and Command Sgt. Maj. Henry Stearns assumed command from Col. Brian Bisacre and Command Sgt. Maj. Brenda Curfman. Bisacre and Curfman served 18 months as the brigade’s command team.
Maj. Gen. Aundre F. Piggee, commanding general of the 21st Theater Sustainment Command, praised the outgoing command team.
“You have been a tremendous asset to our team at the 21st Theater Sustainment Command,” said Piggee.
Curfman describes watching the soldiers and officers of the brigade grow and mature into outstanding leaders capable of handling their next challenge.
“I am so proud of the soldiers in this brigade and could go on and on with a list of their accomplishments,” said Curfman. “My success has only been because of them and their dedicated hard work.”
Bisacre is known for his dedication and care to Families, which he tributes to his wife’s, Cyndi, infectious spirit.
“For Cyndi, it is never about her and always about others, she is one of those human beings who brightens up a room every time she steps in it,” said Bisacre. “You changed people’s lives, you made them better, and you made our units better.”
“Brian Bisacre knows the strength of our soldiers comes from their Families,” said Piggee. “He knows how crucial their support is and therefore worked to make it a two-way street.”
Bisacre and Curfman closed by mentioning their everlasting friendship developed during their command time together.
“In life, it is not so much about the ride, it is who you take the ride with; it has been one heck of a ride, and I loved traveling with you,” said Bisacre. “Cyndi and I love you. You are part of our family.”
Curfman received a standing ovation, and there was hardly a dry eye at the event, as the command team handed off their positions to the new team.
“I want to say thank you to colonel and Cyndi Bisacre. Our time together as a command team is ending, but our friendship will continue for a lifetime,” said Curfman.
Deadrich expressed his appreciation to the Bisacre’s for a smooth transition including support, openness and friendship. He also expressed his excitement and honor to lead this brigade into the future and their upcoming deployment.
“We look forward to the challenges that lie ahead, as we will continue to be ‘ever vigilant’ in carrying out our assigned missions to secure the trust and confidence of our leaders, our Soldiers, our community and our nation,” said Deadrich.
“This brigade has an exceptional reputation of delivering exceptional results when called upon and we will continue that reputation,” said Deadrich.
