FORT HOOD, Texas - Fort Hood officials have released the name of a soldier who died Jan. 1 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas, from complications with a long standing illness.
Sgt. 1st Class Devone Reynolds, 42, whose home of record is listed as Savannah, Ga., entered active-duty service in March 1992 as automated logistic specialist. He arrived at Fort Hood in February 2010 and was currently assigned to the 27th Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood.
Reynolds deployed in support of Operation Joint Forge June 1998 to September 1998, and Operation Iraqi Freedom from April 2003 to January 2004. He also deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from February 2006 to May 2007.
Reynolds' awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, six Army Commendation Medals, six Army Achievement Medals, six Army Good Conduct Medals, two National Defense Service Medals, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afganistan Campaign Medal with campaign star, Iraqi Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, three Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbons, Army Service Ribbon, two Overseas Service Ribbons and two NATO Medals. He also earned the Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, Combat Action Badge and Driver and Mechanic Badge.
