PAKTIKA PROVINCE, Afghanistan - Staff Sgt. Andrew P. Quiroz a combat medic assigned to 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division and member of the Sgt. Audie Murphy Club, receives a phone call from the Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta on Christmas Eve.
Panetta told Quiorz he was proud of what he and his team have accomplished in support of democracy around the world and thanked him for his service.
Quiroz was chosen by his leadership to represent TF 4-1 because “he represents what the profession and dedication of what the squadron is all about and he competed and was selected for membership in the Audie Murphy club,” said Command Sgt. Maj. Matthew McDowell, the squadron’s senior enlisted adviser.
