Combined Joint Task Force-82
BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – Navy Adm. William Fallon, U.S. Central Command commander, spoke with Combined Joint Task Force-82 commander, Army Maj. Gen. David Rodriguez, during an office call March 29.
The visit was part of an introductory tour of U.S. CENTCOM's areas of operation including Iraq and Afghanistan.
Fallon assumed command of USCENTCOM, March 16. USCENTCOM is responsible for all U.S. military forces supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, along with humanitarian assistance in the Horn of Africa.
Established on Jan. 1, 1983, USCENTCOM's area of responsibility includes all the central states in the Middle East and Horn of Africa. Since Sept. 2001, over 60 countries have become coalition partners and provided support for the global war on terrorism.
