MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – The Naval Criminal Investigative Service aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune recognized for North Carolina highway patrol and Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune special response team for their collaborative efforts in keeping the installation a safe place to live Aug. 31.
The ceremony, held at NCIS headquarters aboard MCB Camp Lejeune, was an opportunity to present tokens of appreciation and awards to personal who worked with NCIS.
Joe D. Kennedy, special agent in charge of NCIS, started by presenting NCIS clocks to 1st Sgt. David Oglesby, highway patrol commander, and Col. Richard A. Anderson, assistant chief of staff for security and emergency services Marine Corps Installations East provost marshal. Oglesby said he enjoyed working with NCIS and helping to support them.
“Great working with each and every one of you,” said Anderson. “It’s what you can do when no one really cares who gets the credit, you just want to put the bad guys away.”
Supervisory Special Agent David Gardner read aloud the operational excellence service award given to member’s of provost marshal office SRT for their recognition of skills, knowledge and high performance standards exhibited during February through August 2012. They provided surveillance and apprehensions support, interviews, debriefs, high-risk training and a joint drug suppression operation partnership.
“We drug (SRT) out at O’ dark thirty in the morning,” said Kennedy. “We had a murder case where they were (investigating at the bachelor enlisted quarters) for all day and then some more. We could not function without you.”
