Afghan Local Police validation shura commences in Jani Khel district

PAKTIKA PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Approximately 500 Afghans crowded into a courtyard to witness an Afghan Local Police validation shura in Jani Kheyl district, Paktika province, Aug. 6.
ALP are village level security forces who work alongside Afghan National Police to bring stability and security to their specific villages.

“More than anything we need security so our people can be united,” said Mohibullah Samim, the provincial governor of Paktika province. “The Taliban are shooting at them and yet we see the progress in the villages.”

Security was the key theme of the validation shura as members of parliament lamented on the need for ALP to further the development of the local communities.

“I am speaking to you as a representative of the people,” said Mumude Khan Sulimanil, a member of the Government for the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Parliament. “We have so many people here to support the ALP that we have crowds gathered outside. With the increase of ALP in the villages, we will defeat our enemies. We are all Afghans and we are all the sons of our country.”

With security comes the opportunity for development within the district; and as development increases, so does employment.

“When I came here we had no doctors,” Muhebullah Samim, the Jani Kheyl district governor said. “We now have four doctors and have started teaching medical classes. In five years we will be successful with more schools and roads, but it begins with ALP. We are hoping to establish ALP in the entire district and province.”
Samim invited the enemies of Afghanistan to rejoin their brothers through the Afghan Peace and Reintegration Process.

“We don’t want to kill our brothers,” said Samim. “All of our ANSF (Afghan National Security Forces) and government want peace. I am calling on all the enemies to come and reconcile with us. You can talk to us and join us in having a positive impact in Afghanistan.”

Although peace is possible through the APRP, the ANSF will continue fighting the insurgency as long as they oppose GIRoA.
“Don’t let the enemy encourage you to kill your friends,” said Brig. Gen. Shaw Ahmadzai, the director of ALP with the Afghan National Police. “I know we have some issues and problems, but we need to build our country. We need to build our home. We need to have good security and I will fight them (insurgents) until the last drop of my blood.”
