FORT HOOD, Texas - Fort Hood officials have released the name of a soldier who died June 29, in Copperas Cove, Texas, from an apparent gunshot wound.
Sgt. Chad Lane Williams, 28, whose home of record is Little Rock, Miss., entered active duty service in October 2004 as a combat engineer. He arrived at Fort Hood in September 2009 and was assigned to 2nd Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, since November 2010.
Williams deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from January 2005 to January 2006, August 2006 to November 2006 and April 2008 to May 2009.
William's awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, three Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, two Iraqi Campaign Medals with campaign stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Mobilization Device, Combat Action Badge and Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver-Tracked Vehicles.
Circumstances surrounding this incident are currently under investigation.
