    Audie named Sailor of the Quarter for NMCB-11

    HELMAND PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Builder 1st Class Brandon B. Audie was named Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 11’s Sailor of the Quarter for the period of January through March of 2012.

    The following is an excerpt from Audie’s award citation: [As project supervisor for Detail BOST, he meticulously planned and estimated 1300 man-days of force protection and FOB construction for the 707th advisor team located in Lashkar Gah, Afghanistan. His attention to detail was crucial in identifying construction materials and tool shortfalls that were vital in completing the coordination phase of this highly profiled project.]

    “Always put out your best effort in all you do,” said Audie. “There is always room from improvement, no matter where you are in your career.”

    Originally from Saco, Maine, Audie has 11 years of active duty service in the Navy. He is currently assigned to NMCB 11 and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

    The Sailor of the Quarter program was established in 1973 to recognize the superior performance of petty officers first class with emphasis on outstanding achievements, exemplary personal conduct and military bearing, and demonstrated initiative in performance.

    Homeported in Gulfport, Miss., NMCB-11 is deployed to Afghanistan to conduct general, mobility, survivability engineering operations, defensive operations, Afghan National Army partnering and detachment of units in combined/joint operations area - Afghanistan in order to enable the neutralization of the insurgency and support improved governance and stability operations.
