SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Commissioning of United States Coast Guard Cutter Stratton (WMSL 752). At this ceremony, the cutter will be placed in active service to begin performance of Coast Guard duties.

WHO: First Lady Michelle Obama, Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Jane Holl Lute, Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Bob Papp

WHAT: Commissioning of United States Coast Guard Cutter Stratton (WMSL 752). At this ceremony, the cutter will be placed in active service to begin performance of Coast Guard duties.

WHEN: The commissioning ceremony will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 31, 2012. Media should arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. to clear security and set up equipment.

WHERE: Cutter pier along Spencer Road, Coast Guard Island, Alameda, Calif. 94501 (Go to intersection of Dennison Street and Embarcadero, cross bridge onto Coast Guard Island and security will guide media to parking location.)

Editors note: All interested media must have their names placed on an access list by contacting Lt. Eric Eggen at [phone] or Petty Officer 2nd Class Sondra-Kay Rivera at [phone] no later than March 29 at 2 p.m. to ensure credentialing and access to the ceremony. Only media with their names on this list will be given access to Coast Guard Island for the event.

Media will have designated parking near the ceremony location. Space is limited and will be provided on a first-come first-served basis. Media should plan to arrive at the Coast Guard Island front gate no later than 8:30 a.m. to be parked and at the event site on time. The Coast Guard Island gate will be closed at 9 a.m. for the duration of the event and access will not be granted during this time.

Limited riser space will be available on a first-come first-served basis. A multi-box will be available, as no microphones will be allowed on the podium.
