Iraq -- You wouldn't be able to go anywhere with out them. They keep the vehicles in working order for the drivers, and help the members of Task Force 1-73 accomplish their mission.

"Without us the trucks wouldn't be running," said Spc. Jonathan Pigott, a mechanic for 407th Forward Support Troop, "If the trucks don't work then they wouldn't be able to complete their mission."

The mechanics of the 407th FST are constantly servicing and repairing the vehicles for Task Force 1-73.

"There's always someone working on the vehicles 24 hours a day," said Sgt. Joey Jones, mechanic for 407th FST.

To make sure the vehicles are running properly the operators have to do a preventive maintenance check and service inspection, an inspection to find any deficiencies in the vehicle, before and after they use the trucks, said Spc. Steven Arnett, mechanic for 407th FST.

"If there are any problems with the trucks then it gets written down and passed along to the mechanics," said Arnett.

The PMCS isn't the only type of inspection that gets done on the vehicle. The
mechanics also have a Technical Inspection, a more in depth inspection of the vehicle, that they execute.

"It's about a 20 minute process," said Pigott. The mechanics TI the vehicles after each mission, as well as every Monday to find any problems that the hummer or the Light Motorized Tactical Vehicle might have.

After the inspections the mechanics start repairing any issues that the LMTV or hummer has.

"If we have the parts to repair the problem then the repair is quick," explained Pigott. If the mechanics don't have the parts to fix the issue then it could take a few days.

Arnett admits that not being able to get a part to repair the truck can be one of the most frustrating aspects of the job.

Regardless of the problem the mechanics will make sure the vehicle are repaired before TF 1-73 next mission

"The mechanics are excelling at making sure the Task Force vehicles are serviceable for our missions," said Lt. Col. Ross Davidson, TF 1-73 Commander
