USS Taylor, At Sea -- While operating in the Arabian Sea, USS Taylor (FFG 50) and an unflagged dhow collided at approximately 2:47 p.m., Nov. 29, 2006.
Two crew members from the dhow were safely recovered by the dhow's crew. There were no injuries to the sailors aboard the dhow or Taylor. The dhow suffered some damage to its starboard main deck and steering gear. Taylor rendered assistance on the scene and the dhow was later able to proceed.
Taylor received no damage and is fully mission capable.
The U.S. Navy is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this accident. Further details will be made available as appropriate.
Taylor, homeported in Mayport, Fla., is deployed to the U.S. Central Command's area of responsibility under the command of Combined Task Force (CTF 150).
