GRAFENWOEHR, Germany-- Moldova participates with 38 other nations at Combined Endeavor 11, a multinational exercise from Sept. 8-22, 2011 in Grafenwoehr, Germany.

The goal of the exercise is to improve North American and European military communications, and computer network inter-connectivity to help nations partner together in responding to regional crisis or disaster.

Moldovan army Maj. Oleg Chirilenco said Combined Endeavor is the biggest exercise in communications to Moldova, and the goal for us while in this exercise is to train our signal personnel, and take that knowledge back to our country where they can train other personnel to build our network.

The exercise gives all participates the opportunity to gain more knowledge about their nations equipment and learn about other countries equipment. This knowledge could benefit them in the future during a coalition exercise or real world event.

“Combined Endeavor for us is a big place and a good place for learning and getting knowledge. This year we brought some new equipment, that during this exercise we are trying to gain more knowledge about and learn how to use the new equipment,” said Chirilenco.

“Also you get to see the modernization of communication equipment from other nations,” said Chirilenco.

Nations that have previously participated in Combined Endeavor claim their experiences during the exercise benefit them in the present and in the past.

“Previous years that we have participated in Combined Endeavor our main goal was for us to learn about public infrastructure and information assurance. Then we took that knowledge back home and helped our specialists build up our national public infrastructure,” said Chirilenco.

Participating in Combined Endeavor gives nations the opportunity to gain working relationships with each other without the extreme distance.

“The communication among the nations is very good so far,” said Chirilenco.
