News: Homemade explosive kills local citizen, injures nine others

HERAT PROVINCE, Afghanistan – An Afghan citizen was killed and nine more were injured when homemade explosives detonated in the Shindand District, Aug. 9.
The homemade explosives were found by a local citizen underneath a truck in the village.
After finding the homemade explosive, the citizen was attempting to bring the explosives to authorities when it detonated, killing him and wounding nine others, including women and children. In addition, two businesses were completely destroyed by the blast.
The injured citizens were brought to a nearby Afghan compound where they were immediately seen and treated by coalition Special Operations Forces.
