    NATO Special Operations Component Command-Afghanistan

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - Afghan National Army special forces, along with U.S. Army Special Forces with Special Operations Task Force-South Afghanistan discovered and destroyed two improvised explosive devices in the Khakrez District of southern Afghanistan's Kandahar province, June 24.

The first device the Afghan SF team discovered was a secondary IED designed to target first responders at the same location where a tractor was blown up three days prior.

Acting on a tip from the Afghan National Police, the teams discovered another IED which was more complex then the first and was designed to target large vehicles.

The explosive materials from both IEDs were subsequently destroyed in place and the remaining parts were removed from the location.

No civilian casualties or property damage resulted from these operations.
