    Combined Joint Task Force 101

KAPISA PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Afghan national security forces and French Task Force Richelieu of Task Force Lafayette conducted a combined security operation in Tag Ab Valley Dec. 28.

Operation Montevideo aimed at avoiding insurgents to reinforce the south of Alah Say Valley, where Afghan and French forces had another security operation, Blacksmith Hammer, going on from Dec. 22 to Jan. 2.

TF Richelieu supported the Afghan forces securing Shelwatay Village, Tag Ab Valley. After securing an outer cordon around the village, a shura was organized there with the village malek.

“We have to make the villagers understand there will be development progresses for them if they want to be involved in their own security,” said French army Col. Bruno Héluin, TF Richelieu commander.

This operation showed how the Afghan forces are involved in security and determined to stay in this area. It also helped the Blacksmith Hammer operation in the north be a success.
