PARWAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan – U.S. Army Spc. Ryan Grady, a combat engineer with Company A, 86th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, was honored with a new dining facility dedicated in his name, Nov. 27.
Grady Dining Facility, located at Camp Warrior on Bagram Airfield, will soon open to serve troops.
Grady, 25, was killed during combat operations in Parwan province, July 2.
At a dedication ceremony attended by Company A soldiers and other member of the 86th IBCT, leaders spoke about Grady as a Soldier and a man.
Grady really made a difference in the lives of the people of Parwan, said U.S. Army Capt. Christopher Brooks, Company A commander and Walpole, N.H., resident. “I was honored to serve with a Soldier of his caliber.”
The Bradford, Vt., based Company A, assigned to Task Force Morgan, was responsible for security in the Bagram Security Zone. In addition to security patrols, Company A soldiers actively participated in local shuras, which addressed issues in villages around Bagram Air Field.
Grady’s picture is slated to be put in the Hall of Heroes back at the Vermont National Guard Headquarters in Colchester, Vt.
A picture showing the design of the plaque that will be placed in honor of Grady was unveiled during the ceremony.
