KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan and coalition security forces captured a suicide attack facilitator reportedly working for Al-Qaida, Taliban, Haqqani and other insurgent groups, during an operation in Nangarhar province Nov. 19.

The facilitator is in charge of suicide operations in Nangarhar province.

Based on intelligence reports, the security force targeted a compound in Khugyani District to search for the facilitator, who also moved suicide bombers into Afghanistan. Afghan forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to exit the compounds peacefully before the joint security force cleared and secured the area.

Initial questioning at the scene helped identify the facilitator, who was detained by the security force. The security force also discovered multiple automatic weapons, a blasting cap and a pistol at the scene.

A separate security force detained several suspected insurgents while searching for a Haqqani Network senior leader in Paktiya province.

The senior leader coordinates improvised explosive device and direct fire attacks against coalition force convoys in the Khost-Gardez pass Nov. 19.

The security force followed intelligence tips to a remote compound in Dzadran District to search for the targeted individual. After an Afghan-led call out, the joint security force cleared and secured the area. After initial questioning at the scene, the security force detained the suspected insurgents.

The assault force conducted the operations with no shots fired and they ensured the safety of the women and children throughout the searches.
