IED facilitator targeted, suspected insurgents detained

KABUL - Afghan and coalition security forces detained several suspected insurgents in Paktika province Saturday while in pursuit of a Taliban improvised explosive device facilitator operating in Yosuf Khel District.

Intelligence tips led the security force to a compound west of the village of Baghar Garanday in Yosuf Khel District to search for the IED operative. Afghan forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to exit the buildings peacefully and then the combined security force cleared and secured the compound.

After questioning the residents at the scene, the security force detained the suspected insurgents. The security force also found multiple weapons at the scene.

The security force did not fire their weapons and they protected the women and children for the duration of the search.
