Haqqani Network facilitator captured in Khost

KABUL - Afghan and coalition security forces captured a Haqqani Network facilitator who planned and conducted attacks on Afghan and coalition forces during an operation in Khost province Saturday.

Based on intelligence reports, the security force targeted a compound southeast of the village of Serkay in Khost District to search for the facilitator. Afghan forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to exit the buildings peacefully and then the combined security force cleared and secured the compound.

After questioning the residents at the scene, the security force identified and detained the facilitator. They also found an automatic weapon and multiple magazines, ammunition, grenade bodies and used rocket motors at the scene.

The security force did not fire their weapons and they protected the women and children for the duration of the search.
