Dallas-native Recognized as Warfighter of the Week Aboard USS George Washington

SOUTH CHINA SEA – Dallas-native Yeoman Seaman Omoyermwen Carrington was recognized as Warfighter of the Week aboard Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73), Nov. 21, 2025.

Warfighter of the Week is a command program where the ship’s captain personally recognizes an exemplary Sailor for their accomplishments.

Carrington was selected by her leadership for this honor. Her unwavering vigilance resulted in the tracking and processing of correspondence, mail parels, awards, and directives. Additionally, as a legal clerk, she tracked maintained, redacted, and assembled nonjudicial punishment records.

Carrington said she joined the Navy because “the Navy was my calling; contributing to the nation by being a part of an organization bigger than myself”.

Her favorite part of her job is providing resources and assistance for Sailors.

She has served in the Navy for one year and eleven months, and is a 2021 graduate of Newton High School.
