STUTTGART, Germany— The U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart community officially welcomed 1st Sgt. Vincente Moreno as the new Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC) first sergeant during an Assumption of Responsibility ceremony held Oct. 1 at the Panzer Firehouse on Panzer Kaserne.
Moreno, a native of Argentina who grew up in Maryland, enters the garrison with 25 years of Army experience. He most recently served as first sergeant for the Supply and Transportation Troop, Regimental Support Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment at Fort Irwin, California.
“After a period of operating without a first sergeant, having 1st Sgt. Moreno join the team is a turning point,” HHC Commander Capt. Boluwatife Obembe said.
HHC, a tenant unit of USAG Stuttgart, serves as the backbone of the installation’s military leadership and readiness. The unit is responsible for administrative and logistical support to Soldiers assigned to the garrison command, providing the leadership framework for daily operations across multiple installations in the Stuttgart area.
Moreno’s Army journey began in 2000 when he enlisted as a supply specialist. He completed Basic Combat Training at Fort Benning, Georgia, followed by Advanced Individual Training at Fort Lee, Virginia. His first assignment took him to Fort Carson, Colorado, with the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, where he served in the 3rd Battalion, 29th Field Artillery Regiment.
Throughout his career, Moreno has deployed four times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn. His assignments have taken him to the Republic of Korea, Vicenza, Italy, and multiple units at Fort Carson. His roles have spanned logistics, supply chain oversight, and noncommissioned officer leadership positions within support operations.
Moreno’s military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (fourth award), Army Commendation Medal (seventh award), and Army Achievement Medal (eighth award). He is also a recipient of the Order of Saint Barbara and the Noble Patron of Armor Award in recognition of significant contributions to the field artillery and armor communities.
He arrived at USAG Stuttgart in September 2025 with his wife and four daughters.
“I’m honored to join this team and look forward to working with the outstanding Soldiers and leaders of Stuttgart,” Moreno said following the ceremony. “This is a community with a strong reputation, and I’m committed to supporting our mission and our people.”
