M&FRC opens limited Emergency Family Assistance Center for government shutdown support

RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany – A limited Emergency Family Assistance Center opened Nov. 13 at the Military and Family Readiness Center to assist members of the Kaiserslautern Military Community impacted by the government shutdown.

The limited EFAC serves as a central hub, providing essential information, resource coordination and immediate support to U.S. military members, civilian personnel and families affected by the government shutdown.
“The goal is to have customers first meet with one of our staff and then see how we can help,” described Micah Taylor, 86th Force Support Squadron M&FRC community readiness consultant. “We have a ton of resources and can really dig into a problem to help create the best course of action for the customer.”

Services available at the center include individualized appointments, financial counseling, food pantry access and referrals to military and family life counselors, chaplains and other support programs.
Additionally, the M&FRC’s Spouse Hub has reopened and is providing resources to both civilian and military personnel, offering additional opportunities for connection and support following the end of the government shutdown.

“The EFAC serves as a central hub of support and information, ensuring that individuals and their families have quick access to the resources they need,” said Master Sgt. Jimenez, 86th FSS M&FRC readiness senior non-commissioned-officer. “During times of crisis, it’s important because it ensures that no one has to navigate difficulties alone. When individuals know their families are supported, they can remain focused on the mission.”

This limited EFAC is open 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and will remain operational until Nov. 26.

The food pantry is available on a walk-in basis. To schedule an individualized appointment, call DSN 480-5100, Commercial 06371-47-5100 or email 86fss.mfrc@us.af.mil. For updates or information about volunteering and donating, contact the M&FRC using the numbers or email address above.
