    Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway Park Closures due to Lapse in Federal Appropriations

    COLUMBUS, Ms. – Due to the ongoing Federal government shutdown, specified USACE-operated parks and day-use areas in the Mobile District will close starting October 31, until further notice. •        Registered campers must depart by 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, unless directed otherwise by their local project office. •        Most recreation area entrance gates will be secured, and ungated areas will be clearly marked as closed. •        Minimal staffing will be available at project offices, but powerhouses and navigation locks will remain operational.     USACE-leased parks that will remain open:

    Burnsville Access Area; Bayberry Access Area; Charles Younger Boat Ramp; Gin Branch Access Area; Walkers Levee Access Area; Old Highway 78 Access Area; Beans Ferry Access Area; Ironwood Bluff Access Area; Morgan’s Landing Recreation Area.

    USACE-operated parks that will remain open:

    Fulton Boat Ramp; Doskie; G.V. Sonny Montgomery Lock and Dam; Saucer Creek; Stennis Lock and Dam West;    Becker; Amory Recreation Area; Smithville; Bever Lake; West Damsite Recreation Area; Piney Grove Campground.

    USACE-operated closed parks:

    Bay Springs Site Office;  Scruggs East Picnic Area; Rankin Lock and Dam Fishing; Jamie L. Whitten Campground; Howell Heflin Spillway; East Ringo Bluff ; Barton’s Fery Access; Dewayne Hayes Day Use; Cochrane Boat Ramp;  Blue Bluff Day Use; Howell Heflin Spillway; West S.W.
