Eighth Army held a change-of-responsibility ceremony where Command Sgt. Maj. Robin Bolmer transferred senior enlisted leadership duties to Command Sgt. Maj. Jeffery Weaver on Camp Humphreys, South Korea, Sept. 26.
Both U.S. and Republic of Korea military leaders, Soldiers, staff and family members gathered outside Eighth Army headquarters for the ceremony, which was presided over by Maj. Gen. Hank Taylor, Eighth Army acting commanding general. The ceremony honored Bolmer’s distinguished service and welcomed Weaver as the newest senior enlisted advisor for the U.S. Army's premier fighting force on the Korean Peninsula.
Bolmer has served as Eighth Army CSM since August 2023, playing a critical role in sustaining readiness, reinforcing the U.S.-ROK alliance, and guiding noncommissioned officers and enlisted personnel through complex regional training and multinational operations.
In his farewell remarks, Bolmer reflected on the strength of the alliance and the professionalism of the Soldiers and NCOs he served alongside.
“Serving alongside our Korean allies as the Eighth Army command sergeant major has been one of the greatest honors of my career,” Bolmer said. “The strength of the ROK-U.S. alliance doesn’t just come from treaties or agreements — it comes from the trust, shared sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of our Soldiers, KATUSAs and ROK Army teammates. I leave this responsibility in the capable hands of CSM Jeffery Weaver, confident he will continue to build on this ironclad partnership.”
Bolmer is scheduled to become the U.S. Forces Korea command sergeant major next month.
Weaver assumes responsibility after serving as the Command Sgt. Maj. of U.S. Army Japan where he oversaw enlisted readiness and advised commanders across a region, like South Korea, vital to U.S. Indo-Pacific strategy. He brings with him a wealth of experience and a reputation as a leader focused on standards, discipline and mentorship.
Weaver has served in every leadership position from team leader to brigade command sergeant major in the Army’s four light infantry units. He has several combat deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, operations in support of the U.S. Africa Command regionally aligned mission, and most recently in support of Operation Resolute Support.
“It’s an honor to step into this role and carry forward the legacy CSM Bolmer has upheld with excellence; I stand ready to serve our Soldiers, our leaders, and our mission —shoulder to shoulder with the incredible men and women of Eighth Army,” said Weaver.
“The ROK-U.S. Alliance is more than a strategic partnership — it’s a bond forged in shared values and mutual respect. I look forward to working side by side with our Korean counterparts and continuing the legacy of strength, readiness, and unity.”
Weaver now serves as the senior enlisted advisor to the commanding general and is responsible for the health, welfare, discipline, and professional development of all enlisted Soldiers across Eighth Army and its six major subordinate commands. As the highest-ranking enlisted leader, the CSM ensures that the voice of the enlisted force is heard at the highest levels, while enforcing Army standards and maintaining a sharp focus on combat readiness and operational excellence.
The CSM plays a key role in multinational exercises and joint operations, working closely with Republic of Korea military counterparts to enhance interoperability and strengthen the alliance. Through continuous engagement with Soldiers at all levels, the CSM fosters a command climate of accountability, professionalism, and mission focus — ensuring Eighth Army remains prepared to fight tonight in defense of the Korean Peninsula.
