KLEINE-BROGEL AIR BASE, Belgium – U.S. Air Force Airmen assigned to the 701st Munitions Support Squadron joined their Belgian Air Force 10th Tactical Wing counterparts to execute Exercise Decisive North 25 at Kleine Brogel Air Base, Belgium, Sept. 15-19, 2025.

The weeklong multinational exercise focused on readiness and deterrence, testing U.S. and Belgian forces’ ability to generate aircraft and secure assets together in order to execute NATO’s strike mission in high-stakes scenarios.

“Anything can happen at a moment’s notice,” said U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Hunter Corcoran, 701st MUNSS nuclear weapons technician. “Being able to generate quickly is paramount for the NATO strike mission. These exercises let us learn how our partners operate so we can accomplish our shared objectives.”

In addition to flight generation, scenarios such as simulated unexploded ordnance and simulated air strikes tested their ability to respond swiftly and effectively to achieve mission objectives.

“Flight generation takes all of us working together,” said U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Charles Arnell, 701st MUNSS load monitor. “From Belgian crew chiefs to American munitions technicians, everyone plays a part in making sure the aircraft and assets are safe, secure and reliable. We cannot do this mission without each other.”

Teamwork extended beyond the flight line as custody forces worked hand in hand with Belgian security teams to secure facilities and enforce entry control. Their presence allowed sortie generation operations to proceed without interruption.

“Any minor error can make or break the mission, so building trust with our Belgian partners is critical,” said U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Yelitza Vazquez, 701st MUNSS custodial operations supervisor. “At the end of the day, we’re protecting each other as well as the mission.”

The cooperation and trust built between U.S. and Belgian forces ensures readiness in both simulated scenarios and real-world operations, where coordination and the ability to act quickly are integral to mission success.

“These exercises prove to our allies that we’re ready to execute the mission,” said Arnell. “It demonstrates that we’re always prepared to respond.”
