GHAZI, Pakistan – Marines pilots of HMM-165 (REIN), 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit evacuate Pakistani flood victims during humanitarian relief efforts in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan.

“We are very happy the Marines are able to help us,” said Batir Aduri, a 14-year-old flood victim. “Food has become very difficult to find and many of our homes have been washed away by the floods,” explained Aduri.

The Marines of HMM-165 (REIN), 15th MEU and Navy pilots of HM-15 DET 2 have moved a total of 344,320 pounds of relief supplies and nearly 2000 evacuees in the five days they have been operating in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan.

“We will continue to move supplies and people as quickly as we can for as long as the weather will allow us to,” said Maj Dana Brown, a Super Stallion pilot. “There is still a great deal of work to be done, and people to move from the affected areas,” explained the 37-year-old native of Burlington, Mass.

The 15th MEU is currently deployed with the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group performing training and real world missions as part of their routine deployment across the Western Pacific.
