Weapons cache discovered in Kabul province

KABUL - Coalition forces located and seized a weapons cache in the Shakar Darah District of Kabul province today.

Intelligence sources and tips from Afghan civilians led coalition forces to the cache location. The operation recovered two 107mm rockets, 20 82mm mortars, six fuses and approximately 3 kg of home-made explosives. Coalition forces secured the site and checked the area. The weapons and explosives were confiscated and taken to a local range for destruction.

"The cache recovery disrupts insurgent operations and future coordinated attacks in the Kabul city area," said U.S. Army Col. Rafael Torres, ISAF Joint Command Combined Joint Operations Center director.
