During a visit to the Marshall Center on July 30, 2025, Member of the German Bundestag Carmen Wegge (SPD) toured the installation in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and received a detailed briefing from German Army Col. Markus Schneider, German senior national representative at the Marshall Center.
“The SPD parliamentary group continues to strongly support the jointly run Marshall Center," Wegge said. "Together with our Minister and State Secretaries at the German Federal Ministry of Defense, we will work to ensure the center remains in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.”
Ms. Wegge represents the SPD for the Starnberg–Landsberg am Lech districts in the German Bundestag and also supports the Weilheim district for her party. She was accompanied by Mr. Peter Schimpf and Ms. Birgit Jentsch from the local SPD chapter, as well as Mittenwald Mayor Enrico Corongiu.
Following a warm welcome by U.S. Deputy Director Tim McAteer, the delegation continued its regional defense-related visit with a stop at the nearby Bundeswehr facilities in Mittenwald.
