Soldiers from Bravo Company, 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, pushed themselves through steep restricted terrain, simulated enemy contact, and casualty evacuation drills during a Situational Training Exercise (STX) held in Camp Casey’s northern training area Tuesday, July 29th 2025.

The exercise tested the unit’s ability to maneuver under fire, call for indirect fire support, and evacuate casualties across rugged Korean terrain. Leaders emphasized the importance of realistic repetition as a way to reinforce their lethality and readiness.

The hill climb and subsequent engagement served not only as a physical challenge but as a validation of tactical fundamentals and battle drills.

“This training proves that the Soldiers of Brutal Company can shoot, move, and communicate in the difficult terrain of Korea. We are ready to destroy any enemy that sets foot on the peninsula,” said Staff Sgt. Nathaniel D. Broemmel, 2nd Squad Leader, 1st Platoon.

First Sgt. Autumn Clark, the senior enlisted leader of Bravo Company, emphasized that deliberate training now could save lives later.
“As infantrymen, our job is to close with and destroy the enemy in close combat,” Clark said. “These situational training exercises matter because we want to identify any friction points before we meet our worst day in ground combat. We stay ready so we don’t have to get ready. Brutal company is the most lethal company in the brigade and we intend to stay that way. We’re going to run it back over and over again until we can’t get it wrong.”

Bravo Company’s leadership stated that this STX is one of several planned training events aimed at reinforcing individuals and squad-level readiness as the unit continues operations on the Korean Peninsula.
