IVATO, Madagascar – U.S. and Malagasy forces concluded a six-week Joint Combined Exchange Training in Madagascar, June 30, 2025. Members of 3rd Special ForcesGroup (Airborne) and Malagasy Gendarmerie's Groupe de Securite et d'Intervention Speciale (GSIS) trained together to enhance joint readiness and interoperability, contributing to a more secure environment in Madagascar.
"This JCET focused on three key objectives: training, strengthening partnerships, and advancing peace," said 3rd SFG(A) detachment commander. "We achieved these goals while building professional relationships and trust between our nations."
The six-week training program included lessons in medical training, basic and advanced marksmanship, close-quarters combat, mobility, vehicle recovery, and mission planning before forces were tested during a culmination event.
"We focused on fundamental skills – shooting, moving, communicating, and medical care – the foundation of all military operations," said 3rd SFG(A) detachment commander. "The GSIS demonstrated impressive competence throughout the training and particularly during the culminating exercise, where they effectively implemented everything, we practiced together."
JCETs offer valuable opportunities for U.S. and Malagasy forces to share experiences and best practices. This JCET underscores the U.S. commitment to supporting Malagasy forces and building collective readiness.
