More Reserve Troops Heading for Bosnia
An additional 129 service members from 13 reserve component units recently began training for possible deployment in support of Operation Joint Guard in Bosnia. These units would replace similar units currently deployed.
Since the start of the Bosnia operation, more than 10,000 reserve component personnel have supported Joint Endeavor and Joint Guard. Units deployed to bases in the United States, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Hungary, Germany, Italy and elsewhere in Europe.
The reserve component missions include artillery fire support, mine detection, air traffic control, civil affairs, logistics, public affairs, medical support, and other critical functions.

DoD To Cease Operations at Turkish Base
WASHINGTON -- DoD will end operations at Pirinclik Air Base in eastern Turkey, Defense Secreatry William S. Cohen announced. DoD plans to return the base to Turkey in September.
Officials said the closing will affect 117 Air Force personnel assigned to the base. The base's return is part of the general drawdown of U.S. bases in Europe and improvement in space surveillance technology. To date, more than 800 former U.S. bases in European locations have been returned to host nations, reduced operations or have been placed on standby status for future use.

Teams Search for MIAs in Cambodia, Laos
WASHINGTON -- U.S. military specialists will work with Cambodian and Laotian counterparts to account for Americans missing in Southeast Asia.
Eighteen U.S. specialists with experience in investigations and remains recovery and their Cambodian partners will look in seven provinces to investigate five cases.
In Laos, the 40-member U.S. team plans operations in eight Lao provinces. The joint team plans to investigate as many as 17 cases and to excavate up to seven sites.
There are 2,134 Americans still unaccounted for in Southeast Asia. Of that total, 76 are unaccounted for in Cambodia and 455 in Laos.
