    SOUTHWEST ASIA - Coalition airpower integrated with ground forces in Iraq and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in the following operations May 29, according to Combined Air and Space Operations Center officials here.

    Air Operations in Afghanistan

    Chahar Bagh, Regional Command - South
    Multiple aircraft provided armed overwatch for friendly forces throughout the day.

    Coalition operators observed friendly forces taking enemy fire and released a missile against an enemy fighting position effectively ending enemy fire.

    U.S. Navy F/A-18C Hornet pilots were passed coordinates for an enemy sniper position and made a strafing run that eliminated a threat to friendly forces.

    A U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer aircrew conducted a show of force to deter enemy action, which was determined successful by ground controllers.

    Gardez, RC-E
    U.S. Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews released precision-guided munitions against an enemy vehicle as directed by joint terminal attack controllers.

    Soltani, RC-E
    U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircrews provided armed overwatch, surveillance and reconnaissance for friendly forces and a friendly-forces convoy. Aircrews conducted a show of force to deter anti-Afghan activity. Later, aircrews provided support for a friendly-forces convoy as it moved toward a village.

    U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots conducted a show of presence, which ground controllers declared successful.

    Moqor, RC-E
    U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch and close air support for a coalition patrol and convoy. Pilots conducted shows of force and shows of presence to deter enemy action. Ground controllers declared the actions successful.

    Konduz, RC-N
    U.S. Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon pilots provided armed overwatch for a coalition-forces patrol. Pilots conducted a show of force, with flares launched, to deter anti-Afghan forces activity when the patrol reported taking enemy fire. Joint Terminal Attack controllers declared the show of force successful.

    Asadabad, RC-E
    U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews released precision-guided munitions against an enemy position. Ground controllers determined the enemy position was destroyed.

    Farah, RC-W
    A U.S. Air Force B-1B aircrew provided armed overwatch for a friendly-forces convoy. The aircrew conducted a show of force and show of presence to deter enemy action when suspicious personnel were observed near the convoy. Joint terminal attack controllers declared the actions successful when suspicious personnel vacated the area.

    Coalition aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a successful show of presence as requested.

    Zirani, RC-E
    U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for a friendly-forces convoy. The convoy had reported taking enemy fire earlier and requested aircrews conduct shows of force to deter further anti-Afghan forces activity. Ground controllers declared
    the show of force successful.

    Kandahar, RC-E
    U.S. Air Force A-10 pilots provided armed overwatch and close air support for coalition forces. Pilots conducted a show of force to deter enemy action.

    Khaval, RC-W
    U.S. Air Force F-16C pilots provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Pilots conducted a show of force to deter anti-Afghan forces activity.

    Shahidan, RC-E
    U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of force to deter enemy action. Ground controllers determined the show of force successful.

    U.S. Air Force F-15E aircrews provided armed overwatch for friendly forces. Aircrews conducted a show of presence, which ground controllers determined successful.

    A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Badghis province, Afghanistan, delivering 70,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.

    A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircrew flew a combat-airdrop mission in Zabul province, Afghanistan, delivering approximately 68,000 pounds of combat-sustainment supplies to friendly forces.
