Joint Task Force 505 continues conducting humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations in Nepal, JTF 505 officials said in a news release issued today.

To date, JTF 505 helicopter and tilt-rotor assets have flown 142 sorties and delivered almost 220,000 pounds of supplies to those in need, including plastic sheeting, shelter kits, blankets, water, medical supplies, and supplemental and emergency food, the release said.

"You and your fellow Marine brothers and sisters came to us at a time when we were down," wrote Amrit Sharma, an appreciative Nepalese native, in an open letter to the Marine Corps. "Thank you for what you do, and sacrificing so much for your own country and for us with Operation Sahayogi Haat in Nepal."

According to the release, the current fleet of capabilities deployed to Nepal includes the 36th Contingency Response Group, U.S. Marine UH-1Ys, MV-22Bs, and KC-130Js, U.S. Air Force C-130Hs and C-17s, plus various ground and aviation command and control assets.
