NAPLES, Italy — Leaders from U.S. Naval Support Activity (NSA) Naples and the City of Pozzuoli in Naples, Italy, held a luncheon June 12, 2025, to strengthen partnerships and discuss community support initiatives. The event highlights the ongoing efforts to foster positive relations between NSA Naples' military population and their Italian neighbors.

Attended by NSA Naples Commanding Officer Capt. John Randazzo, Mayor of Pozzuoli Luigi Manzoni, senior staff from both organizations, and local law enforcement, the luncheon provided participants an opportunity to tour a Pozzuoli vineyard while engaging in fruitful discussions.

"This engagement reinforces our strong relationship with the Pozzuoli community and addresses key areas of mutual interest," said Randazzo. "Working together is vital to supporting the families of our personnel."

Discussions focused on Carney Park, a U.S. military recreational facility located in Pozzuoli, water supply for the park's pools, law enforcement support for the upcoming Fourth of July celebration at the park, and the ongoing bradyseism (ground deformation) in Pozzuoli.

With approximately 80% of the American military community stationed in Naples residing off base, cultural exchange with the Italian community is part of daily life.

"The U.S. Navy's presence in Pozzuoli is vital for our community, and we appreciate the open dialogue and collaborative efforts to address our shared challenges," said Manzoni. "We look forward to continuing this positive partnership."

Building upon existing collaboration and strengthening ties, the event concluded with a gift exchange between the NSA Naples commander and local leaders from Pozzuoli, reaffirming their commitment to future partnership.

NSA Naples is an operational ashore base host to more than 50 separate commands and approximately 8,500 personnel. The base provides a forward-deployed operational platform to the Fleet, enables the warfighter, and supports the family. It supports U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa, U.S. SIXTH Fleet, NATO, and Combatant Commander's strategic priorities by providing air and port operations, force protection, emergency services, logistical and administrative capabilities, and essential quality of life products and services to the Fleet, joint and allied forces to ensure stability in the European, African, and Central Command areas of responsibility.
