    FARGO, N.D. — State employees with the North Dakota Office of the Adjutant General were recently recognized for their service. Employees across the state received longevity plaques for their time with the office, which includes the North Dakota Army and Air National Guard, North Dakota Department of Emergency Services, Civil Air Patrol and North Dakota Veterans' Cemetery.

    The positions are spread across the state and cover jobs ranging from managing the numerous facilities in the department to providing security and administrative support.

    "It takes thousands of people — whether part-time Guardsmen or full-time state employees and federal technicians — to make an operation of this size run so smoothly and successfully," said Maj. Gen. David Sprynczynatyk, North Dakota adjutant general. "When we have employees with 10, 15, even as much as 35 years on the job, things run even better thanks to the many years of experience and dedication these employees bring to the workforce. It's an honor to be able to recognize them for all they have given to making our state a better place."

    State employees at Camp Grafton Training Center, near Devils Lake, N.D., honored for their service include Terry Eisenzimmer, a plumber with 35 years of experience. Rod Heisler, also a plumber, and Brad Larson, a physical plant director, were thanked for 30 years. Celebrating 25 years as a state employee are Larry Walford, heating plant supervisor, and Tom Bertsch, electrician. Brian Pederson, heating plant operator, was recognized for 20 years.

    Those with less than 20 years who met service milestones at Camp Grafton include Daniel Jager, maintenance supervisor, with 15 years; Edward C. Fischer, systems mechanic, with 15 years; and Lois Wilhemi, administrative assistant, 10 years. State employees honored for five years of service include Lyle Jaeger, training center housing manager, Elmer Scott, electronics technician, Jeff Eisenzimmer, general trades maintenance worker, Thomas Hopp, heating plant operator, Jeremy Malo, security police, Solomon Peltier, security police, Michael Weigel, security police, and Harold Whitson, carpenter. Employees celebrating three years include Lynette Hanson, custodial supervisor, Marty Shipley, electronics technician, Garry Vick, maintenance supervisor, Tyler Axdahl, heating plant operator, Shawn Hill, security police, Brian Kettleson, security police, Carl Quam, security police, and Travis Sand, security police.

    At the North Dakota Air National Guard in Fargo, Dean Tvedt, landscape and grounds supervisor, was honored for 30 years of service. Several employees there received 25-year plaques, as well, including Kevin Anderson and Dave Belcher, firefighters, Doug Klomstad, equipment operator, and James Kruft, systems mechanic. Those recognized for 20 years as state employees include Greg Brown, Darin Langager and Charles Richard, firefighters, as well as Barry Reitan, assistant fire chief, Rick Shypkowski, security contract guard supervisor, and Kevin Tranby, carpenter. Ray Amundson and Erik Clemenson, with the base security forces, were recognized for 10 years of state service as were Scott Kaufman, firefighter, and Ingo Schulz, military facilities realty officer. Five-year state employees who received plaques are electricians Gerald Allen and Brad Fuchs; security forces employees Jeffrey Gunter, Levi Heller and Laura Taylor; plumber Christopher Kleven and carpenter Robert Ramsett. Employees who have worked three years for the state include Travis Schauer, station captain, and Charles Heitkamp, account/budget specialist, as well as three firefighters: Pete Amstrup, Chad Noyes and Michael Ohren.

    Two state employees at the Fargo Armed Forces Reserve Center were honored for their service, as well: Darrel Kaiser, maintenance supervisor, with 15 years, and Jack Willson Jr., custodial supervisor, with three years.

    State employees from Grand Forks and Wahpeton also were honored during the Fargo ceremony. Kim Palmer, physical plant director for the Wahpeton Armed Forces Reserve Center, was thanked for 15 years of state service, and Steve Kappel, maintenance supervisor at the Grand Forks Armory, was honored for five years.

    Two state employees at Bismarck's Fraine Barracks have dedicated 25 years to state service. Holly Gaugler works as an accounting manager there, and Kolleen Koppinger works as an environmental sciences administrator. Also at Fraine Barracks, Jeffrey Goetz, systems mechanic, and Paul Zent, master planner, were thanked for 20 years working for the state. Steve Millner, custodial supervisor at Bismarck's Army Aviation Support Facility Complex, also was honored for 20 years.

    Three Bismarck-area employees were honored for 10 years with the state. Those include Layne Gunderson, a carpenter at Fraine Barracks, August Honeyman, a maintenance supervisor at the North Dakota Veterans' Cemetery in Mandan, and John Ouradnik, a maintenance supervisor at Raymond J. Bohn Armory in Bismarck. Pamela Helbling-Schafer, coordinator at the Veterans' Cemetery, received a plaque for five years of service as did Jerome Hohbein, the National Guard security supervisor at Fraine Barracks.

    Bismarck employees who received their first service plaques after three years of working for the state include Jason Cook and Nicholas Hoffert, Fraine Barracks security police; Kristopher Elijah, anti-terrorism program manager at Fraine Barracks; Robert Klein, maintenance supervisor at Raymond J. Bohn Armory; and Darrel Pittman, administrator officer for the Civil Air Patrol at Fraine Barracks.

    In the North Dakota Department of Emergency Services, which is based in Bismarck, Peggy Golke, a communications supervisor, was thanked for 30 years of service, while Bonnie Dever, also a communications specialist, celebrated 25 years, Janell Quinlan, emergency program specialist, marked 20 years, and Roxann Hopfauf, an account technician, completed 10 years. Department of Emergency Services employees marking their first milestone of three years include Roberta Gullickson and Shanna Johnson, both communications specialists, Cody Schulz, business manager, and Karen Hilfer, administrative officer.
