    Marine Corps Systems Command

Marines, defense leaders and industry innovators gathered in the nation’s capital April 29 through May 1 for Modern Day Marine 2025, the Corps’ premier military exposition focused on Force Design and the future of naval expeditionary warfare.

Held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, this year’s event carried the theme “Ready Today, First to Fight Tomorrow,” highlighting the Marine Corps’ commitment to modernization, experimentation, and industry collaboration.

Throughout the week, hundreds of exhibitors displayed emerging technologies to support the warfighter—from autonomous systems and next-generation command and control to improvements in individual protective equipment. Marines from across the Fleet Marine Force engaged directly with program managers, developers, and acquisition leaders, providing feedback to help shape future capabilities.

Senior Marine Corps leadership, including Commandant Gen. Eric M. Smith, delivered keynote remarks and participated in panels covering topics such as expeditionary advanced base operations, contested logistics, and modernization efforts in the Indo-Pacific region. The expo also featured sessions on talent management and enlisted innovation, emphasizing the importance of empowering Marines at all levels.

Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) served as a key participant in the event, highlighting its role as the acquisition and sustainment command for the Marine Corps. Headquartered at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, MCSC is responsible for equipping Marines with everything from ground vehicles and weapons systems to communication platforms and IT infrastructure. The command plays a vital role in implementing Force Design by rapidly delivering scalable and adaptable solutions to meet the Corps’ evolving mission requirements.

During the three-day event, MCSC program managers and leadership participated in panel discussions, technology demonstrations, and one-on-one engagements with industry partners. These interactions provided a platform to reinforce and rapid acquisition pathways. “This is a team sport,” said Brig. Gen. Tamara Campbell during the Acquisition GO Panel. “We can’t do this alone in government. We have to do this with academia, with our industry partners, as well as our allies and partners.”

Campbell emphasized the importance of collaboration and open communication between MCSC and its external partners. “We need to understand what you’re bringing to the table from industry, what we can bring from government, and where we can collaborate,” she said. “At the end of the day, our jobs are to deliver capability to Marines—so let’s make sure we’re speeding off the same roadmap.”

Personnel from MCSC in attendance included Program Manager for Advanced Amphibious Assault (PM AAA), Col. Tim Hough, Program Manager for Wargaming, Col. Wynndee Young, and several other program managers, acquisition professionals and technical leads across key portfolios. Their presence enabled direct engagement with both Marines in the field and industry representatives working to meet operational needs.

Looking ahead, SYSCOM remains focused on strengthening industry relationships and streamlining processes to meet the dynamic requirements of the Fleet Marine Force

Modern Day Marine continues to serve as a strategic venue for aligning acquisition efforts with real-world requirements, fostering collaboration across the defense community. Planning for the 2026 exposition is already underway.
