FUSSA CITY, Japan – The U.S. Air Force Band of the Pacific, along with the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard Drill Team based in Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C., performed in the 10th Annual U.S.-Japan Friendship Concert in Fussa City, Japan, April 24.

The collaboration made for a unique event; it was the drill team’s first visit to Japan. The drill team traveled with the PACAF Band from April 20-27.

“[Viewing the concert] together as ONE,” said Col. Burt Okamoto, 374th Mission Support Group commander prior to the concert. “This is where we find the word ‘us’ in music… ONE rhythm, ONE tempo… ONE community!”

Air Force bands and drill teams strengthen bonds with allies, recruit Airmen, and inspire long-lasting impressions of the U.S. Air Force by providing the public with live music and complex drill routines.

“This event is just one example of our enduring friendship as we celebrate the strong bond between Japan and the U.S. and the joy of music that unites us as one community,” said Col. Richard McElhaney, 374th Airlift Wing commander. “On behalf of Team Yokota, I would like to extend a sincere ‘Thank You’ to the Fussa community for your continuous friendship and support.”
